What is Judo?

Judo classes are a system of unarmed combat where the aim is to grapple your opponent to the ground, and win by throwing them to the floor on their back, pinning them to the floor or performing a strangle or joint lock until they submit. The literal meaning of judo is ‘gentle way’ or ‘way of softness’.

Judo was first created by Kano Jigoro in 1882 and became an Olympic event in 1964 and is popular all over the world.
